Description
A quirky Lenormand deck that captures the whimsy and delightfulness of the ‘Illuminated ‘ manuscripts of medieval times.
All 36 cards feature artwork taken directly from the pages of these centuries-old illustrations. Each one has it’s own unique authentic frame and is named using decorative letters from an actual manuscript.
The vibrant colours are a result of the offset printing (not digital) process. The elements are assembled on a black background, (a modern touch) to set them off in a dramatic and clear way.
The images “pop” for the reader and makes interpreting them a lively and immediate experience.

As a finishing touch, the edges of the cards are metallic gold to give you the feeling of those gilded treasures found in a medieval library.
The 350-gram matte-finish card-stock is smooth and durable and shuffles beautifully.
The poker size cards are slightly larger than many petit Lenormand decks, and still a good size for the Grand Tableau.
The deck come in a sturdy, beautifully printed 2-piece box with 12-page guide booklet.

An absolutely beautiful deck. The imagery is crisp and clear and the cardstock is fantastic. I backed this project through Kickstarter and I can honestly say that I couldn’t be more happy with the breathtaking deck I’ve received.

Well, today I came home to a lil’ package from China. I thought it was going to be a certain *cough* knockoff *cough* deck I bought from eBay (to my eternal shame! Mea culpa! Shame! Shame!), but it turned out to be… *drumroll* *fanfare* THE FRIAR’S DELIGHT LENORMAND!
And it is as beautiful as it was supposed to be, and more. A nice (and surprisingly solid) box, and inside it 36 gorgeous cards in a whippy, satin-like but more matte than satin cardstock, with luxuriously gilded edges. Despite the dark backgrounds, and the delicate aged effect, this is a deck made for reading by candlelight. There is something deliciously intimate about it. (Could it be the dark backgrounds, and the delicate aged effect?)
The LWB is a tiny, 10-page affair. It is simple, and awfully pretty, and of course those who want or need detailed information about Lenormand will have to look elsewhere. Not a problem for me. I’m in love with the deck as it is. IN LOVE, I tell you!

A luxurious deck that is the perfect balance between dark and light; serious and whimsical. There is so much attention to detail in each card with each having its own unique illuminated border. The poker size is perfect. The gilded edges are incredible and don’t cause any sticking. The card stock is sturdy and matte and will hold up to many, many uses and even riffle shuffling. The box is a little tricky to open but a fast thrust downward while holding onto the lid will allow the box to release itself enough to grip it. I know that this deck will become my go-to Lenny.

I was a kickstarter backer of of the deck and I must say the deck surpassed my expectations, from the technical details onward. The cardstock is sturdy and the finish is matte, soft matte that glides nicely. The size is perfect lenormand size, good for big spreads. The images are crisp and delightful, and the thought and care behind the creation of the entire deck is evident as a whole. This deck is perfect for late night readings by candlelight, or paired with beer/wine and friends. It is truly enchanting.

The images selected work really well, and I love the details included, wonderful visual delight. The gold gilding works beautifully to compliment the cards atmosphere.

If you know kickstarter theses days you will know what a rarity this has become.

A beautiful and luxurious feeling deck! It’s the first Lenormand deck I’ve backed as a kickstarter, and very happy that I did. The cardstock is amazing, and I especially love the swooshing sound it makes (a little ASMR!). The poker size works well as well. The art is intricately detailed, yet crisp. A deck I would recommend to anyone looking for a Lenormand!

I can’t add anything to what the others have already said… Beautiful cards and Joan Marie is wonderful! I bought one for me and one for my friend. We both love them! I looked high and low for the perfect deck and this is it! The art in many decks are just too tacky and cheap looking. Either they are just like other original lenormand, or diverge too much and look too “busy” with other distracting images. The art in these cards is simple, as it should be, while managing to pull off some great artistic style, quality and uniqueness! Quite a feat 🤔👏💞
